How The $0 Deductible Works

Under Florida Statute 627.7288, the deductible on a comprehensive policy does not apply to windshield damage. The replacement is covered in full by your insurer. That is state law, not a promotion, and filing a windshield claim does not carry a surcharge.

Comprehensive coverage is required. Liability-only policies are not covered by this statute. If you are not sure what you have, we can check it with you on the call.

It applies to the windshield. Side windows and rear glass are covered by comprehensive too, but your normal deductible does apply to those.

Common Questions

Is windshield replacement really free in Florida?

With comprehensive coverage, yes. Florida Statute 627.7288 removes the deductible for windshield damage, so there is no out-of-pocket cost to you and no surcharge for the glass claim itself. Without comprehensive coverage, it is a normal paid job and we will quote you a cash price up front.

Will filing a glass claim raise my rates?

A comprehensive glass claim is a no-fault claim and does not carry a surcharge for the glass itself. Insurers set rates on their own criteria, so if you want certainty for your specific policy, ask your agent before we file.

Insurance & cost

What if I do not have comprehensive coverage?

Then it is a normal paid job, no claim to file. We will quote you a cash price up front before any work starts.

Do I have to pay my deductible?

Not for windshield damage under comprehensive coverage in Florida. State law removes the deductible for glass claims, so there is no out-of-pocket cost to you.

Will a glass claim show up as an accident on my driving record?

No. A comprehensive glass claim is a no-fault claim. It is handled entirely separately from at-fault accident claims.

Can I choose any auto glass shop, or does my insurer require a specific one?

In Florida, you have the right to choose your own repair shop. No insurer can force you to use their preferred vendor. We handle the claim with your insurer directly, whichever company they are.

What if I am leasing or financing my car?

That is fine. We use OEM-quality glass and proper installation, so it meets lease-return and manufacturer standards. No extra steps needed on your end.

Another car's rock hit my windshield, whose insurance do I use?

Almost always your own comprehensive coverage, since it is a no-fault claim regardless of who caused it. We will confirm this for you on the same call.

Safety & urgency

Is it safe to keep driving with a cracked windshield?

Small chips are usually fine for a short time, but any crack can spread quickly with temperature changes or road vibration, and a compromised windshield weakens your car's structural support in a rollover. We recommend getting it looked at as soon as possible.

Can a small chip be repaired instead of replacing the whole windshield?

Often, yes, if it is smaller than a quarter and not in your direct line of sight. We will tell you honestly on the call whether a repair or full replacement is the right call.

Can I get a ticket for a cracked windshield in Florida?

Yes, a windshield that obstructs your view or is significantly damaged can result in a citation. It is one more reason not to put it off.

Why did my windshield crack out of nowhere?

Temperature swings are a common cause. A small existing chip can spread fast when hot glass hits cold AC or vice versa. Road debris and even normal vibration over time can also turn a tiny chip into a full crack.

The appointment

How long does the actual replacement take?

Usually under an hour for the glass work itself, plus safe drive-away time afterward before you get back on the road.

Do you really come to my home or office?

Yes, wherever your car is parked, we come to you. No need to sit in a waiting room.

How soon can you get here?

In most cases we can schedule you within the same day or the next, depending on your location and the glass needed for your vehicle.

How long do I need to wait before driving after the glass is installed?

We will give you an exact safe drive-away time on site. It depends on the adhesive and weather conditions, but it is built into your appointment so you are not left guessing.

What if it rains on the day of my appointment?

We can usually still work around light rain with proper setup, but for heavier weather we will reschedule to protect the adhesive bond and your car's interior.

Your vehicle's technology

My car has cameras or sensors near the mirror, will those still work right?

If your vehicle has lane-assist or forward-collision cameras (ADAS), they typically need to be recalibrated after a windshield replacement. We handle that as part of the job.

Will you use the same glass my car came with?

We install OEM-quality glass matched to your vehicle's specifications, including any special features it has.

What if my windshield has a rain sensor, heated wiper park, or tint strip?

All of that gets transferred and reinstalled correctly. It is accounted for in the same appointment.

Trust & guarantees

What if something goes wrong after the install, like a leak or wind noise?

Reach out and we will come back to make it right. Our installs are warrantied against defects in workmanship.

Are you licensed and insured?
