Why same-day matters more than people think

A chip is a small job. A crack that has run across the glass is a much bigger one, and the gap between the two is often a few days of driving. Heat, a pothole, and the temperature swing from parking in Florida sun then running the air conditioning all push a crack along.

What actually happens on a mobile appointment

You give the year, make and model, plus where the car will be. We bring the correct glass to that address inside the arrival window. The glass work itself is usually done in under an hour.

After that the adhesive needs to reach safe drive-away strength before the car is moved, which typically adds about another hour. If your vehicle has a forward-facing camera behind the glass, it also needs recalibration, which adds roughly 60 to 90 minutes. Your technician will tell you the exact timing for your vehicle before starting.

What it costs with Florida comprehensive coverage

If you carry comprehensive coverage on a Florida policy, windshield replacement is covered in full with no deductible. That comes from Florida Statute 627.7288, which says the deductible on a comprehensive policy does not apply to windshield damage. It is state law rather than a promotion, and filing a windshield claim does not carry a surcharge.

Liability-only policies are not covered by that statute. Side windows and rear glass are covered by comprehensive too, but your normal deductible does apply to those.

What to ask before you book anyone

Four questions sort a good outcome from a bad one, whoever you call.

• Will the same person who quotes me do the work? With a small local operator the answer is usually yes.

Weather, and when mobile service will not work

Adhesive needs to cure in reasonable conditions, so heavy rain is the one thing that genuinely stops a mobile job outdoors. A covered driveway, a carport or a garage solves it, and so does a parking garage at work.
