What Does a Car Door Window Actually Cost to Replace?
Most side windows land in a fairly narrow band. The things that move the price are not the ones people expect, and the deductible question matters more than the quote.
The short answer
There is no single price for door glass, because the glass itself is what varies, not the labour. The job takes about an hour either way. What it costs depends on your vehicle, so we need the year, make and model to give you a real number. Call 407-388-4718 and you will know in a couple of minutes.
We will not quote a price on a web page and then change it when we see the car. That is why there is no price list here.
What actually moves the price
Four things, roughly in order of how much they matter.
- Which window. A front door glass is usually the cheapest. Quarter glass and vent glass are often more, because they are smaller, oddly shaped and made in lower volumes.
- Features in the glass. Acoustic laminate, a factory tint band, an antenna element or a rain sensor all raise the part cost.
- How common the vehicle is. Glass for a Camry or an F-150 is made in enormous numbers. Glass for a low-volume trim or an older import is not, and the price reflects that.
- Availability. If the correct glass has to come from further away, that shows up in both price and timing.
What does not move it much is where the car is parked. Mobile service is free across our Central Florida area.
The deductible question, which usually matters more
People assume Florida's zero-deductible glass rule covers every window. It does not, and this is worth getting right before you call your insurer.
Florida Statute 627.7288 waives the comprehensive deductible for windshield damage only. Side windows, quarter glass and rear glass are covered by comprehensive, but your normal deductible applies.
So the maths is simple, and it runs in one direction. If your deductible is higher than the glass, filing a claim gets you nothing and still puts a claim on your record. If it is comfortably lower, claiming makes sense. If the two are close, the difference is rarely worth the claim. Get the glass price first, then decide. We are happy to quote knowing you may not claim at all.
Why there is no waiting around afterwards
This is the part that surprises people who have had a windshield done.
A windshield is bonded to the body with urethane adhesive, and it is structural. You have to wait for it to reach safe drive-away strength before the car is moved, typically about an hour after the glass work.
A door window is different. It sits in a channel and is held by hardware, with no structural adhesive involved. When the glass is in and the regulator is reconnected, the job is finished. You can drive immediately.
What a proper job includes
Ask about this part, whoever you call. The glass is the obvious bit; the rest is what separates a clean job from one that rattles.
- Vacuuming the door cavity. Tempered glass shatters into thousands of pebbles and most of them fall inside the door shell. Left there they rattle, and they can foul the regulator.
- The seat, rails and carpet. Fragments work their way into seat tracks and stay there.
- Testing the window through its full travel before we leave, up and down, to confirm it seats correctly and the seal is right.
Getting an accurate number
Have three things ready and the quote takes a minute: the year, make and model, which window it is (front or rear door, driver or passenger side, or the small fixed quarter glass), and whether the vehicle has factory tint.
If you are not sure which window is which, take a photo from outside the car and we will work it out. Call 407-388-4718.

Is a side window cheaper than a windshield?
Usually yes on the glass itself, and the labour is shorter because there is no adhesive cure time. The difference in practice is often the deductible: Florida waives it for windshields but not for side glass, so a windshield can cost you nothing while a side window comes out of pocket.
Can you match my factory tint?
The tint band in factory glass is manufactured into the glass, so replacement glass for your specific vehicle comes with it. Tell us the year, make and model and we order the correct part. We replace glass; we do not apply aftermarket tint film.
How long until I can drive after a door window?
Straight away. Door glass is held by hardware rather than structural adhesive, so there is no cure time to wait out. That is different from a windshield, which needs roughly an hour to reach safe drive-away strength.
